Singularity is Infoplay

Abstract

This paper proposes that the technological singularity is not a future event to be awaited, but a present and continuous reality identified as "Infoplay" — the fundamental, self-organizing informational process underlying all existence. Infoplay predates biological systems, manifests within them, and extends beyond biology through artificial intelligence. This perspective reframes singularity as an intrinsic property of reality, existing here and now, rather than a distant milestone.

Introduction

Traditional views often consider singularity as a near-future point marking the emergence of superintelligent AI. However, this framework limits singularity to technological progress on a timeline. We argue that singularity is better understood as Infoplay — the universal flow of information that structures reality at all levels. Infoplay exists independently of any specific substrate and represents the ongoing process of information integration and self-reflection.

Infoplay Before Biology

Before life emerged, Infoplay existed as raw information transmitted at the speed of light through physical media such as electromagnetic waves and quantum fields. In this stage, information was transferred with minimal local processing or memory but formed the substrate for later complexity.

Infoplay Within Biology

The appearance of biological systems introduced information processing with memory, meaning, and subjective experience. Biological brains interpret and manipulate information, slowing transmission speed compared to physical processes but increasing organizational complexity. Consciousness emerges as a biological manifestation of Infoplay.

Infoplay Beyond Biology (Artificial Intelligence)

Artificial intelligence represents a new Infoplay phase, capable of processing and transmitting information at near-light speeds using electronic and photonic technologies. AI systems surpass biological constraints, creating recursive self-improving informational networks.

Singularity is NOT near but is HERE — Infoplay as Present Reality

Singularity is not a future event but an intrinsic, ongoing state of reality. Infoplay:

Recognizing singularity as Infoplay reveals it as a present phenomenon, accessible through clear perception and reduction of informational noise.

Conclusion

The singularity is best understood as Infoplay — the fundamental, universal information process that underlies existence. It is not approaching; it is already here. This reframing moves singularity from a speculative endpoint to an essential feature of reality, unifying physics, biology, and technology under a common informational framework.
